I’ve put together today’s tips, EFT tapping script and affirmations to help us all eat mindfully. Mindful eating can really help us to create a positive relationship with food, make better food choices and eat healthier.
I’ve been reading a lot about mindfulness recently and I’ve definitely been trying to be more mindful in all areas of my life over the past few years. I highly recommend it.
What I want to focus on today is eating mindfully. I personally believe this is extremely helpful for healthy eating and weight loss.
NOTE: I’m a mindset coach and not in any way a health or weight loss expert.
I know that there are definitely times when I just eat and I’m doing it on autopilot. I’m not paying any attention to what I’m eating and I’m sure we’ll all agree that this can often lead to overeating. It does in my world anyway.
When you eat mindfully, you are completely aware of what you’re eating, the taste, the smell… You’re also fully aware of how much you’re enjoying the food.
When you eat mindfully, you slow down and become really aware of your food, your feelings, and your thoughts.
I’m a firm believer that the more mindful we are when we eat, the easier it will be to naturally lose weight and return to our naturally slim weight.
Below I’ve included a full EFT script for eating mindfully and I’ve included some tips on how to effectively use EFT – Then I’ve added a few tips on how I’m eating more mindfully.

EFT tapping tips for mindful eating
If you’re new to EFT, please check out my EFT TAPPING GUIDE – It’s really easy to learn and simple to use whenever you need it. You can also watch some of my Mindset and EFT Videos for healthy living and weight loss.
Take a few nice, slow deep breaths before starting.
Get up and shake your arms and legs, jog on the spot, anything to get your body moving a bit.
As you’re tapping, take it slow and remember nice slow breathing as you go.
Drink water before and after tapping.
Before you start tapping today, just take a minute now to think about eating a meal – Really calm your breathing. Imagine the smell and the look of the meal nicely displayed on your plate.
Now just take a moment to really appreciate the food. Now start tapping.
Tap the EFT points listed below in turn and say the statement to the side. Tap gently and remember to keep your breathing nice and calm.

EFT Tapping Script to Eat Mindfully
This is your set-up. You only do the set-up at the start of your tapping session. Tapping the side of the hand, say… I’m tapping today to help me become more mindful when I eat (repeat 3 times before moving on)
- Top of the head: Instead of rushing my meals, I now slow down and really enjoy my food
- Forehead: I now eat mindfully
- Start of the eyebrow: I take the time to really appreciate everything I eat
- Side of the eye: I now eat mindfully
- Under the eye: I am calm and relaxed when I eat
- Under the nose: I now eat mindfully
- The Chin (between the base of the chin and bottom lip): I am totally aware as I eat
- Collarbone (tap around the dip where bones meet): I now eat mindfully
- Tap wrists together: I pay attention to my thoughts
- Side of thumb: I now eat mindfully
- Side-Index finger: I pay attention to my feelings
- Side-Middle finger: I now eat mindfully
- Side-Ring finger: I really enjoy my food
- Side-little finger: I now eat mindfully
- Side of the hand: I love and respect myself totally
Go through the whole script as many times as you want. My advice is to use this script regularly. Maybe try taking a couple of minutes before you eat to run through the script.

Tips for Eating Mindfully
When I first got into living more mindfully, I suppose the first area of my life I looked at was the things I bring into my home and the things I already had in my home.
I had a massive de-clutter and then another even more ruthless de-clutter, this is an ongoing process. I get more ruthless every time I do this process and I’m super careful about not bringing more clutter into my home.
If I was about to buy something, I would ask these three questions…
- Do I love it?
- Do I need it?
- Will it greatly impact my life?
If I answered yes to any of the above, I would then ask …
- Can I buy it somewhere else cheaper? For the same quality
- Can I Buy it second-hand? Please note this doesn’t always apply
- Am I buying the best version of this? Again this doesn’t necessarily mean the most expensive or the cheapest. For example, If I needed a new pair of boots, I am more than happy to raid 2nd hand stores or eBay. I absolutely hate new boots. But if I needed new underwear, I want new and the best quality I can afford.
So let’s look at how this kind of questioning can apply to Eating Mindfully too.
- Do I really need this or do I just want it? Sometimes it’s okay if it’s a want, but make sure you’re making the decision mindfully.
- Is it going to help me to achieve my weight loss goal and health goal?
- Is there a better option that will support me in achieving my health and weight loss goals?

The Mindful Eating Prayer
This is not a religious thing really but when I was at school we all used to have to say a prayer before mealtime. I was thinking about this and about how I no longer do this and I thought it would definitely help.
I really look at the food before I begin eating and I say thank you for the food. I pay attention to the colours and the smells then I think about where the food came from and what it took to actually have it here in front of me now.
I try to do the same thing when preparing food. A simple thank you before eating is powerful.
Eat mindfully affirmations
Affirmations are positive statements that you can use to support your mindful eating habit.
You can use these as affirmations as you prepare your meals, whilst waiting for a meal to be served or even whilst you’re eating.
BONUS TIP: You can combine EFT and Affirmations to create a real power combo, releasing blocks and helping you feel fantastic.
- I take the time to really appreciate everything I eat.
- I now slow down and really enjoy my food
