In this post, I want to share some top tips and techniques to help you effectively use the law of attraction to attract a more joyful life for yourself.
I’ll start off by talking a little specifically about the law of attraction and then I have some powerful techniques that will help you to get the law of attraction working to bring you more joy.
There are also two more posts in this Joy series, Affirmations for joy and EFT for joy. I recommend that you read all the posts for the most impact.

Law of attraction
If you’re new to learning about the law of attraction, please read my guide here on the blog How to use the law of attraction.
There’s a lot of confusing information out there. I’m a qualified law of attraction practitioner and I like to keep my advice simple and easy for you to actually use in your life. These are the key things I want you to focus on…
Many law of attraction teachers say that What you focus on you attract. Whilst, this is a good thing to keep in mind, it’s not the full story.
I definitely agree that we need to focus on the things we want to draw into our life, so put your focus on JOY. However, you also need to pay attention to other things, mostly the way you feel and your beliefs.
You want to focus on what you want as if you already have it or at least totally expect it to be on its way to you now.
The law of attraction responds to your thoughts, feelings, beliefs, the things you say and the things you do.
Below I will share some techniques to help to make you a match for attracting more and more joy to your life.
Affirmations
Affirmations help to deliberately fill your mind with positive messages that support you. Mike Dooley, from the hit law of attraction movie The Secret, famously said: “Thoughts Become Things.”
If you want more joy, fill your mind with joyful messages. As part of this Joy series, I’ve already written an Affirmations for joy post. I highly recommend reading this.
You want to be putting positive messages into your mind, sending them out into the universe as part of your normal life.
Affirmations also help to shift any limiting beliefs. For example, you may have a belief that you don’t really deserve to have a life filled with joy. Saying affirmations like “I totally deserve to have a life filled with joy” will really help over time.
Don’t expect miracles the first time you say your affirmations. This is a technique you want to be really consistent with over time.

EFT
EFT stands for Emotional Freedom Techniques, often called tapping. We tap on meridian points to improve your energy flow and release blocks. This can help with all kinds of things.
Thinking about adding more joy to your life EFT can help to release any resistance you have around allowing more joy. It will help to get your energy really free-flowing and raise your vibrations to be a match for attracting more joy.

Hypnosis
Disclosure – I’m about to share affiliate links. I don’t teach hypnosis myself but I do recommend and use Hypnosis Downloads. Remember joy means great happiness. I’ve been using downloads from Hypnosis Downloads for years and love them. I tend to listen to them at bedtime and it’s fine if you fall asleep listening to them (I normally do as they’re so relaxing).
Visualize
Visualizing things the way you want them to be is incredibly powerful. You send a powerful message to the universe saying this is the life I want you to give me.
Also, your subconscious mind can’t tell the difference between a visualization and reality so the more you place yourself into the picture you want, the more the universe and your subconscious mind will support you in making what you want your reality.
In your mind, I want you to really imagine yourself feeling really happy. Look at yourself in this image feeling so joyful. What are you doing? What else can you see? Really focus on the feeling and spend time with yourself in this mind movie. Have fun with it and do it often.
This technique will help you to raise your vibrations so that you feel joy and become a match for attracting more and more joy.
Notice the joy in your life
When people are trying to attract more of something they often focus on the lack of it and this is the wrong way to go about it. Every day, search for moments in your life when you feel joyful. As you go about your day, try to feel joy for the things you’re doing. Make it a game to spot things that bring you joy.
Gratitude
Gratitude really IS your superpower. When you focus on what you’re already grateful for, you make yourself a match to attract more to be grateful for. Mix with affirmations to get “I’m so grateful for all the joy I already have in my life.”
As you go about your day-to-day life, if you experience a feeling of joy, ANCHOR that feeling and express gratitude.
For example, today, I had taken my shoes off and then realized I still needed to take something out to the bin (momentary annoyance) and as I stepped out the door, I noticed two birds playing close by. It was a lovely scene that I would have missed. I took a moment to really feel the joy of the scene and feel gratitude for being given this moment in my day.
This is obviously something really small but these moments send a powerful message that you are a match for joy.
Be a match for joy
Remember earlier I explained that the law of attraction responds to your thoughts, feelings, beliefs, the things you say and the things you do. Before I finish off this post, I want to talk a little more about each of these.
Thoughts for joy
Keep your thoughts positive and filled with joy. You can use affirmations to help with this. If you spot thoughts running through your mind that are not a match for attracting joy, swap the thought for something better feeling.

Feelings for joy
Feelings are ultimately the things that the law of attraction responds to but all the other things work to create a feeling.
Throughout the day, do a check-in with yourself and ask “How am I feeling right now?” Aim to raise your vibrations (improve the way you feel) if you’re feeling anything less than joy.
Ask, what can I do right now to help me feel more joyful? You could spend a few minutes visualizing yourself joyful, saying your affirmations, doing some EFT saying More Joy. Go into the garden and admire your flowers, play with a pet, go for a walk, crazy dance… Anything that you know will add joy to the present moment.
Beliefs to build joy
Your beliefs are tricky. We all form all kinds of beliefs from the minute we are born. We pick up beliefs from life experiences, friends, family, television, and social media to name but a few.
I’ve heard people say things like “Well, there must be something wrong with them, nobody’s really that happy.”
And from working with many clients over the years to help them work out what they really want. Often they will say, I want to feel happy. On further questioning, many people have discovered a belief of “I don’t deserve to be happy.”
Joy is an inner feeling. Happiness is an outward expression.
You see, even if our logical mind says, of course, I deserve to feel joy, to have a joyful life. Belief are often hidden away, and can really block what you want from being your reality.
My advice is to do some EFT tapping in things like more joy, I allow more joy, I totally deserve a joy-filled life… as even if you have beliefs that you’re not aware of, this will help to release those limiting beliefs and allow in more joy.
The things you say (attract more joy)
This is often a real stumbling block for people. They work on positive thinking, etc, but then they’ll say things that totally block them.
Here’s an example of what I mean. Jenny (my fictional friend) wants to feel more joyful. On the way to work, she meets up with a work colleague and they talk about the awful weather, the meeting they’re not looking forward to, and they complain about the lift not working in their workplace.
Jenny started her day by focusing on joy, she enjoyed her breakfast and remembered to appreciate how much joy her family and her home bring her and even said a little thank you for the joy her beautiful garden brings her.
But, like so many other people, once she met up with someone who was complaining, she also started to complain and agree with her co-worker. This lowers Jenny’s vibrations and serves to block joy.
If you notice yourself talking in a way that doesn’t support you in attracting joy, stop, quiet your mind and refocus on joy. This doesn’t mean that you need to go around saying things like, I feel so joyful. It just means avoiding complaining.
If others do complain or talk in a way that brings down your vibrations (makes you feel less than joyful), make sure you don’t add to it, try to shift the conversation to something more positive and in your mind, you can repeat “This is not my truth”. I am joyful.
The things you do
Simply do things that bring you more joy and stop doing things that don’t bring joy to your life. Now, if there’s something you really have to do that you don’t enjoy, find a way to add joy to that thing.
For example, I really hate hoovering (vacuuming) my house but I do need to do it regularly. Instead of focusing on the actual hoovering, I focus on the music I put on to enjoy, how lovely my floors will look and how tidy my home will be and how many steps I’m getting in (check out my 10,000 steps a day obsession).
Imagine that the universe is watching you and has a present filled with joy ready to send you. What will the universe see? Will they see someone who is a match for joy or someone who isn’t?
Again this doesn’t mean you need to go around with a great big smile on your face every minute of the day and skip joyfully through life.
But let’s say that the universe already knows you like puppies. Whilst watching, the universe sees you walking down a busy street and a lady passes by with a puppy. You notice the puppy and smile, maybe even stop and pet the puppy feeling joyful. Your actions are a match for attracting more joy. If you pass by without even noticing but push past people annoyed, you’re not a match.
The universe is always picking up on the messages you send out. Your actions always send a message out about what you’re a match for.
