Hello, Coach Wendy here. Let’s work on the limiting belief that learning is hard. Specifically learning new things is not easy.
A lovely reader reached out to me and asked for help with a limiting belief that she can’t learn new things easily.
As a mindset Coach, EFT Master Practitioner and Law of Attraction Practitioner, I LOVE getting messages like this because I know I have advice that I believe will help.
My mind instantly goes to affirmations and EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques) as both are amazing for changing beliefs so that they support you.
A belief of “I can’t learn new things easily” is likely to stop you from achieving many things that you want, so let’s get to work to release it and build positive new beliefs.
What you say to yourself matters
What you say to yourself really does matter. If you’re saying things like “It’s so hard to learn new things” then it absolutely will be hard. Maybe you won’t even try because you believe so much that it’s just too hard.
Let’s change the story. I personally believe the best way to do this is by using affirmations. Positive messages. Such as…
- Learning is easy for me now
- I’m learning new things all the time with so much ease
- I love learning new things
- I am a natural learner
Now, sometimes things are going to be harder to learn than others and that’s okay and totally normal. Instead of filling your mind with messages of it being too hard and you can’t learn new things, switch to…
- Even if things are hard to learn, I can do it
- It might take me longer but I can do it
- I can ask for help
- I embrace learning new things even if it seems hard

Swap any limiting thoughts and beliefs
Your thoughts are a massive indicator of what your beliefs are. When you have a belief that it’s hard for you to learn new things, your thoughts are likely to be something like this…
- I can’t do that, it’s too hard
What I want you to do is PAY ATTENTION and whenever you spot a thought that doesn’t support you, SWAP IT. It really is that easy.
YOU always have a choice to deliberately shape your thoughts at any moment. Sure, random and unhelpful thoughts might still pop into your mind and that still happens to me.
Simply, acknowledge it as a thought that isn’t supporting you and choose a better feeling thought for yourself. Here’s an example.
- I can’t do that, it’s too hard for me.
- SWAP IT to…
- I’m a learner and I’m learning new things all the time
- I can do this
- Learning is easy for me now
- I love learning new things…
Try to think of as many supportive thoughts as possible. Create a spiral of positive thoughts.

EFT – Emotional Freedom Techniques to release your limiting beliefs
EFT is incredible for releasing limiting beliefs. If you’re new to EFT, please check out my full EFT GUIDE right here on the blog. It’s super easy to learn and you can use it yourself.
The EFT script I’m sharing below is specifically for the belief that learning new things is hard. I do have an EFT for Clearing Limiting Beliefs Printable Download available from my ETSY SHOP if you’re interested.

- A video demonstrating the EFT session (it is slightly different to the script in the blog post)
- I have also created a printable version of the EFT session which is available for a very small cost from my ETSY SHOP
EFT Script to release the belief that learning new things is hard.
In this EFT session, I’ve included 3 EFT rounds (I’ll explain as I go through them). The first focuses on the problem – The belief that you don’t want. In the next two rounds, we shift the focus to tapping in what you do want.
You can tap out what you don’t want and tap in what you do want with EFT.
Before you start: Shake your arms and legs, roll your shoulders and your head. Get your body moving. Drink some water, take a deep breath in and slowly release.
The Set-Up
Start tapping the side of your hand just below the little finger. And say why you’re tapping. “I’m tapping today to release this belief that it’s hard to learn new things. To release this belief that I can’t learn new things easily. I’m tapping to build a new belief that I can learn new things with ease. I’m tapping to feel at ease with learning new things.”
Take a big deep breath in and release. Now we’ll start tapping the rest of the EFT points and saying reminder statements at each.
ROUND 1 – Releasing
- Top of the head: I release this limiting belief
- Forehead: I can’t learn new things easily
- Eyebrow: I release this limiting belief
- Side of the eye: It’s hard for me to learn new things
- Under the eye: Release
- Under the nose: Release
- Under the mouth: Release
- Collarbone: Release
- Side of the hand: Release
We do not need to overcomplicate this. Keep things nice and simple with a clear message.
This is a full round. I recommend that you repeat this round a few times before moving on. You only need to do the set-up right at the start of the session. So on your repeat round, go straight to the top of the head.
Rounds 2 and 3 – Building new beliefs
You did the set-up right at the beginning so there’s no need to do that again. I’ve added in an extra point now that we are tapping IN what you want. It’s the tip of the nose – The magic point.
Drink some water
- Top of the head: Learning is easy for me now
- Forehead: I am a natural learner
- Eyebrow: Learning is easy for me now
- Side of the eye: I am a natural learner
- Under the eye: Learning is easy for me now
- Tip of the nose: I am a natural learner
- Under the nose: Learning is easy for me now
- Under the mouth: I am a natural learner
- Collarbone: Learning is easy for me now
- Side of the hand: I am a natural learner
NOTE: By using the word now, you are saying that no matter what has happened in the past or however you have felt, NOW, learning is easy.
- Top of the head: I have a great attitude toward learning
- Forehead: I love learning new things
- Eyebrow: I have a great attitude toward learning
- Side of the eye: I love learning new things
- Under the eye: I have a great attitude toward learning
- Tip of the nose: I love learning new things
- Under the nose: I have a great attitude toward learning
- Under the mouth: I love learning
- Collarbone: I have a great attitude toward learning
- Side of the hand: I love learning
Repeat these last two rounds whenever you want. You can make them your daily EFT session for the next couple of months to really build the beliefs.
You can use any positive messages or affirmations you choose that support your new belief system around learning new things. Make it fun and enjoy it.

Notes about learning and mindset
I didn’t do well at school. I spent the vast majority of my time daydreaming. School was not a great fit for me and my personal style of learning.
I believed I wasn’t very smart (clever). Worse still I believed that I was stupid. Occasionally those beliefs still crop up for me and I need to work on releasing them with EFT, talk it through with myself and use my affirmations.
The fact that I didn’t suit the school system and didn’t leave school with great qualifications did not mean that I was stupid or couldn’t learn well.
In fact, I am now 51 years old and I have constantly been learning new skills and gaining new knowledge through education (in a way that suited me personally) ever since I left school. I love learning. I’m a natural learner.
Ask me to participate in a general knowledge quiz (my family loves to do this) and I feel like I’m being tortured. I hate it.
But give me a training course, a book, anything on something I have a passion for and I love it. I can totally get lost in learning for hours absorbing everything.
I also want to point out that not everything is easy even when it’s on a subject I am incredibly passionate about.
Here’s an example.
I’m a certified Law of Attraction Practitioner. I took 2 years to complete my training and absolutely loved it. I would be absolutely buzzing after each training session.
Now, as part of my business, I share loads of information about the law of attraction. I like to think I have my own special style. What I don’t do is teach people about the science behind the law of attraction. Why? Because I don’t understand it well enough.
The law of attraction is Applied Quantum Physics. Sounds impressive doesn’t it? In my own mind, I have a basic understanding of that but not enough to teach others about it. And that’s okay. There are other people who really understand that side of the law of attraction and can explain it super well.
That’s not my superpower. My superpower is making things easy and practical so that they can be applied to everyday life. That’s always my aim.
Anyway, I’m telling you this story because I could have let these things block me. I could have said I wasn’t smart enough to do well in school, so I’m not good at learning.
I could have said, I don’t fully understand everything about the law of attraction so I can’t ever share it with anyone or call myself a Law of Attraction Practitioner.
I have doubts about myself, just like most other people. And I have to deal with limiting beliefs, just like most other people. But I know that’s all they are… Doubts and limiting beliefs. NOT the truth.

Thankyou sooo much for this! I’m started learning British Sign Language and I am absolutely loving it but I’m plagued constantly by my beliefs I can’t remember it, I’ll NEVER remember it all. I’ll NEVER be able to actually apply it. it’s too hard to learn like other people. blah blah blah. It is really hindering me at the moment as I know I have a proper zoom course looming in the new year with exams at the end…and I’m already thinking I’ve failed! how ridiculous is that!
