I choose to deliberately fill my mind with positive affirmations every day. As a Mindset Coach, my best advice for anyone trying to build a positive mindset is to do three things.

- Fill your mind with positive affirmations and self-talk
- Focus on your daily achievements
- Focus on gratitude
I believe positive thinking and positive self-talk are one of the keys to building a mindset that supports me to feel my best, be my best and keep creating a life I love.
Today, I want to focus on why I love positive affirmations and use them throughout the day, every day. Plus I’ve got some wonderful affirmation examples to share.

I was introduced to positive affirmations by Louise Hay. Sadly Louise is no longer with us but she was and will always be the queen of affirmations (in my humble opinion).
I want to share two that she taught me and that I’ve been using for years. For context, I started using affirmations at a very low period in my life almost 20 years ago.
All is well in my world
All really wasn’t well in my world at the time I first started using this affirmation but I chose to focus on these words because I trusted that all would be well in my world again.
I still use this affirmation today. I use it if things are not going well, if I’m worrying about something or feeling stressed. I also use it when something lovely happens as a reminder, yes, see, all is well.
I am beautiful and everybody loves me
I started using this affirmation when my marriage ended many years ago. My self-confidence was super low and I had withdrawn into a shell of my former self.
Louise recommended using this when you walk into a room of strangers and when you’re walking down the street. I did use it in the affirmation in both of these situations many times but I also used it on my own and when I was in a room with my family who do love me. Because I had lived away from my family for many years, being back with them and included in big family get-togethers sometimes felt overwhelming. I would quiet my mind and say “I am beautiful, everybody here loves me.”
My dad had died a few years before and since his passing, I often felt that I wasn’t safe and protected. So, I would also add “I’m here with my family and I’m safe and protected. I am loved.”
These affirmations helped me to build my emotional strength again, rebuild my life and learn to love myself.
My mind is on auto-babble pretty much all the time
It really is. My son was diagnosed with ADHD when he was 17 and then we were learning about what this meant and how to work with it, it became quite clear I also have ADHD. I never got tested because I never felt I needed to. But what this does mean for me and my son is that there is constant mind-chatter going on and for me, that can quickly spiral out of control with negative and hurtful thoughts.
So, I choose to fill my mind with messages that support me. And because I’ve been doing this now for many years, my thoughts usually go automatically to something positive and helpful – But not always.
When I spot a negative or unhelpful thought, I refocus on thoughts that support me instead and create a spiral of positivity instead.
Affirmations keep depression and anxiety away
After the birth of my son almost 24 years ago, I was depressed. Prior to this I had been trying to get pregnant for a long time and suffered an early miscarriage. I had been diagnosed with anxiety that made me pass out a few times.
I was very good at hiding my depression and never sought help which was a mistake but I can’t go back to that time. All I can do is take care of myself now. Thankfully I’ve learnt how to do that. However, every now and then I can feel myself getting pulled toward anxiety and depression.
When this happens, I know I need to take extra special care of both my body and especially my mindset. Affirmations help me with this so much.
Most people who come across me in my business and life in general think I’m a super positive person and for the most part, yes, I am now. But, I’m only that way because I work daily on my mindset. And the truth is that some days, even with all the tools and techniques I’ve learned over the years, I still have days where I want to hide under my bed covers and cry at the slightest thing.
If that happens, without even needing to leave my bed, I can choose to put my focus on those three things I mentioned earlier.
- I fill my mind with positive affirmations and self-talk. I focus on saying kind and empowering messages. Messages of love that support me.
- I focus on things I’ve achieved. This gives me a strong sense of accomplishment, empowerment and the knowledge that I am capable. I am enough.
- Gratitude. No matter what’s going on that day, I always have so much to be grateful for and I focus my attention on this.
Affirmations build a belief in myself
Oh my goodness, I’ve doubted myself so much over the years. Thought: I’m a terrible mum, I don’t know what I’m doing!” I would use affirmations such as… I’m a great mum. Sure, I don’t always know what I’m doing and I don’t always get it right but I always try and I have so much love to give. I do my best and that makes me a great mum.”
When I started my own business, I constantly doubted myself and my own ability to succeed. Even now, things come up where I doubt myself. I think it’s a natural part of life. But I can replace those doubts with affirmations that support me.
Some of my favourite business affirmations are…
- Every day in every way, my business gets better and better
- My business allows me to live a life I love
- My business income is constantly increasing
- I am more than capable of creating a successful business I love
Affirmations and the law of attraction – Thoughts become things
Mike Dooley from the hit law of attraction movie The Secret famously said “Thoughts become things.”
As a law of attraction practitioner, I do think there’s more to it, however, I certainly believe that our thoughts play a huge part in what shows up in our reality.
Affirmations give you the opportunity to deliberately think in a way that supports you. Use your thoughts to focus on the things you want for yourself and to attract them into your life.
Affirmations to change limiting-beliefs
I had a massive amount of limiting beliefs about myself, other people and the world in general. They were so unhelpful and I still have my fair share. Thankfully they get fewer each year.
TIP: Pay attention to your thoughts and if you notice anything unhelpful, anything that is not supporting you, use positive affirmations to change your thoughts in this area and start to change limiting beliefs. To use affirmations in this way, you will need to be consistent and use your supportive affirmations over time.
Here’s an example, if you have a belief that people who didn’t do well in school can’t be successful in business or get a high-paying job, you could start using an affirmation such as…
You can also read my Free AFFIRMATIONS GUIDE here on the blog for more tips to effectively use affirmations.
There are people from all walks of life and from all education levels who are very successful in business and life. There is absolutely no reason why I can’t be successful. I have what it takes to be successful.
I use affirmations to feel my best
Affirmations help me to feel the best I can at any given time. Whether my emotions are low or I’m feeling fantastic, affirmations always help me to feel even better.
TIP: If at any time, your affirmations feel uncomfortable or like a lie, try changing the wording slightly so that it feels better for you personally.
Here’s an example of what I mean. If you’re in debt and currently struggling to pay your bills, then affirmations such as “I’m a multi-millionaire” will probably just add to your low feelings about your financial situation.
Instead, you could try better-feeling messages such as… I am learning how to make more money. I’m learning how to manage my money better. I’m building money beliefs that support me now.
I also recommend that you combine your affirmations with EFT Tapping (Emotional Freedom Techniques). This is a really easy technique to use yourself and will help you to release resistance to your affirmations.

Create Your Own Affirmations To Support You
I would love you to create your own affirmations. What do you want? And how do you want to feel?
Once you have the answers to these two questions then you can create your own powerful affirmations.
Example Affirmations:
- I want to come across really well in work meetings
- I want to feel more confident in meetings at work
- Affirmation idea: With every work meeting I attend I become more and more confident, I come across really well
Give it a try for yourself. I truly believe affirmations can be life-changing. They have been for me.
Are you using affirmations to help you feel great and create a life you love?
I’d love you to share some affirmations that you like to use with me.

Thank you for giving us access to this article Wendy, I love it 💖
As much as I practice gratitude and journal every day (well almost every day), I do forget about affirmations. You’ve reminded me of their importance in keeping our thoughts positive and how we attract what we think about.
I’m constantly thinking about getting my own coaching business of the ground and it seems the universe is pointing me in all the right directions ✨

That’s wonderful to hear Shelly. Years ago when I was doing my Law of Attraction Practitioners training, one of the students asked “Does the world need another coach?” The trainer replied YES. Because your voice and your life experience is different to everyone else’s. Go for it. You’ve got this xx
