When things are going wrong or you experience a negative interaction try combining Emotional Freedom Techniques, EFT tapping and Ho’oponopono – The Forgiveness Prayer.
I absolutely love ho’oponopono. I know it sounds a bit weird but stick with me and let me explain.
Ho’oponopono means to make right. I’m not going to go too much into the history of ho’oponopono here but there’s a great post you might like to read Basic Huna Ho’oponopono. It’s fascinating.
You can also check out this post here on the blog for more details about using Ho’oponopono in your own life – Ho’oponopono – The forgiveness prayer.
Instead, I want to tell you how I’ve used it in my life and I’ve put together a special EFT tapping script using ho’oponopono. I personally call it the forgiveness prayer. This is the prayer (ho’oponopono).
The ho’oponopono words
- I’m sorry
- Please forgive me
- Thank you
- I love you
This is repeated over and over. I have seen it set out in a different order but this is the way I learned and use myself.
Some experiences with ho’oponopono
I want to share a few experiences I’ve personally had when I’ve repeated this powerful forgiveness prayer.
Whenever I find there is conflict in any of my relationships, I say the prayer to myself over and over, especially if it’s a situation that I feel I have no control over.
I’ve had really toxic situations just ease and I’ll receive a really nice message from someone who has been causing me lots of stress.
I also use it with my son if things get a bit tense and the tension will just ease up really quickly.
I’ve had situations in my business where things are not going well and I’ve not known what to do, so I’ve started saying the prayer over and over and then I’ll go off and do something else for a bit.
Sometimes the situation has just gone away, sometimes I’ve had an idea that has really helped me sort the situation out.
Here’s my take on how it all works
Now, there are many explanations as to how ho’oponopono works but I’d like to share how it works in my mind.
When I talk about the law of attraction I want to make it as easy to understand as possible and I believe this is very much tied into the law of attraction.
Let’s break down Ho’oponopono – The forgiveness prayer
This is what the words mean as I say them.
The prayer is… I’m sorry, please forgive me, thank you, I love you.
HO’OPONOPONO
- I’m sorry – I see this as saying I’m sorry that I’ve somehow attracted this into my life.
- Please forgive me – Whatever I did to attract this into my life – FORGIVE ME.
- Thank you – Thanks for forgiving me. Now it’s up to you who you’re saying thanks to. For me, it’s a general thanks to the Universe, God, the angels… Also, thank you for showing me what I’m a match for so that I can change something and raise my vibrations.
- I love you – I look at this as sending out love into the universe and giving love to myself. Now, if someone is being really horrible to me I don’t feel love for them particularly but I can still send love to the situation and that’s how I like to think of it.
What happens when we use ho’opnopono
When we use Ho’oponopono in this way, we shift our energy and become a match for a better situation.
We change the energy we send out into the universe and yes that energy can reach a long, long way right around the world.
It changes the energy you’re giving to anyone else connected to the situation and this is so incredibly powerful.
What is EFT and why use it with Ho’oponopono?
EFT stands for Emotional Freedom Techniques – We tap on special points to improve the energy flow – to raise your vibrations.
This helps to release emotions we don’t want, clear limiting beliefs that don’t serve us anymore and release resistance to things we do want. We can use EFT in so many ways to help improve our life.
If you’re new to EFT, I encourage you to read my full EFT tapping Guide. It’s super easy to learn and no special skills required.
By using EFT with Ho’oponopono you will be releasing any negative emotions of your own. You’ll be creating a really powerful energy shift and generally raising your vibrations so that you become a match for a positive outcome.
EFT and Ho’oponopono tapping script
Place your hands in the heart-healing position (both hands palm to the middle of your chest). Take a few deep breaths and slowly release. Focus on the person or situation that you want to shift the energy around and then let’s start tapping.
- Top of the head – I’m sorry
- Forehead – Please forgive me
- Eyebrow – Thank you
- Side of the eye – I love you
- Under the eye – I’m sorry
- Tip of the nose – Please forgive me
- Under the nose – Thank you
- Under the mouth – I love you
- Collarbone – I’m sorry
- Tap your wrists together – Please forgive me
- Side of the hand – Thank you
- Top of the head – I love you
This is one EFT rouns. You can repeat as many times as you want. I recommend doing at least 5 rounds. Don’t rush it. Relax your breathing and feel your energy shift.
Questions I get asked about EFT and Ho’oponopono
I’ve been talking about ho’oponopono and EFT for years so I know some of the questions that come up. If you have any further questions please do ask in the comments below.
Do I have to do EFT and Ho’oponopono together?
No, not at all. Doing so can really help with your own energy but Ho’oponopono is super powerful all by itself. What I will say is that if you have resistance to it working then a few rounds of EFT will really help.
It’s worked so incredibly well for me on its own over the years and in ways I couldn’t even imagine that I have no resistance to it. You can use EFT on its own and you can use ho’oponopono on its own. Both are incredibly powerful.
Do I have to say the ho’oponopono – forgiveness prayer out loud?
Nope, you can totally say it in your mind if you want and you can shout it out loud if you want, whatever works for you. I’ve even sung the words as I’ve danced around my home.
Can it work for things that have been going on for years?
Give it a go. It’s incredibly powerful, so yes, I’d say it definitely can work for things that have been going on for years. It’s creating an emotional and energy shift and that’s powerful.
Can I use it if the person is in a different country?
Yes, definitely. There are no boundaries. When I lived in Spain, I often used it for my mum who was in England after my dad died. She would often tell me she’d been really upset or struggling with something and then she’d feel calm and feel like I was thinking about her.
Whenever I worried about her throughout the day, I would do some ho’oponopono whilst thinking about her. It helped me and my mum.
Can I use it if I have problems at work?
Yes. Spend a moment focusing on what’s going on or a certain person and then repeat the prayer. Remember to try to hold love in your heart as you say I LOVE YOU. You’re sending love to the situation.
Try it on anything – EFT and Ho’oponopono
EFT founder Gary Craig said to try EFT on everything and I think the same goes for using ho’oponopono too.
Don’t question, will it work? Just give it a go and see what happens. This is the approach I took years ago and it’s amazed me so many time over the years.
I really hope you’ve found today’s post helpful. I hope you’ll give this a try for yourself. It really can be life-changing.

Hi,
Do we say the three statemants to Divinity, but say “I love you” to the Data?
Thanks
Wendy says
I’m very sorry. I don’t know what that means. I’m sorry – I see this as saying I’m sorry that I’ve somehow attracted this into my life.
You can say it to God, the Universe, Angels, or whatever you personally believe in.
