Sleep is so incredibly important for us to be able to live our best life. I know that I am at my best when I regularly get around 7-8 hours of sleep a night.
It impacts my mood, my concentration, productivity, weight loss, overall health and more, so I definitely make this a priority.
Now we can do all kinds of things to help ourselves get a good sleep such as not drinking caffeinated drinks before bed, not being on our phones the hour or so before sleep, having a cool room and blocking out light to the room, but today I want to share 4 techniques that can really help you get better sleep.

4 Techniques to get a better sleep
These 4 techniques will help you to get a good night’s sleep and wake feeling refreshed…
- EFT for a good night’s sleep
- Hypnosis to sleep well
- Sleep affirmations
- Visualize waking up refreshed
Let’s take a look at those techniques in more detail…
If you have a long-term sleep problem, please do seek advice from your doctor as there may be underlying health problems.
1. EFT For a good night’s sleep
EFT stands for Emotional Freedom Techniques, sometimes called tapping (because we tap on special meridian points).
I’ve written an EFT – How to tap guide here on the blog to teach you how it all works. It’s super easy to learn and use.
You can do a simple EFT script to relax and set you up for good night sleep. I recommend before you start getting ready for bed.
EFT tapping for sleep
Tapping the side of the hand, say… I’m tapping tonight to relax and get a good night sleep. I want to fall asleep easily, sleep well and wake up feeling refreshed.
- Top of the head – I sleep really well
- Forehead – I’m calm and relaxed
- Eyebrow – I sleep really well
- Side of the eye – I’m calm and relaxed
- Under the eye – I sleep really well
- Under the nose – I’m calm and relaxed
- Under the mouth – I sleep really well
- Collarbone – I’m calm and relaxed
- Under the arm – I sleep really well
- Side of the hand – I’m calm and relaxed
You can do several rounds of this tapping. Focus on keeping your breathing nice and steady. nice and relaxed.
Really take your time. It’s better to do 2 rounds slowly with nice relaxed breathing rather than 4 fast rounds.
EFT for when you’ve really been struggling to sleep
If you’ve been struggling to sleep for a few nights then I think you need to tap on that problem.
Here’s what I’d do. Write down what’s happening. For example, Even when I feel really tired it takes me ages to fall asleep, I feel so frustrated. Even when I do eventually fall asleep, I wake up several times throughout the night and I feel exhausted in the morning.
Now you can tap on that. Something like this…
Tap on the side of the hand and read out everything you wrote down. Now take a deep breath in and slowly relax before moving to the rest of the tapping points.
- Top of the head – Even when I feel really tired, it takes me ages to fall asleep
- Forehead – I feel so frustrated
- Eyebrow – Even when I do eventually fall asleep, I wake up several times throughout the night
- Side of the eye – I feel exhausted
- Under the eye – I just want to sleep
- Under the nose – I feel so grumpy when I don’t sleep well
- Under the mouth – It’s hard to concentrate on my work
- Collarbone – I want to fall asleep quickly
- Under the arm – I want to stay asleep
- Side of the hand – I want to wake up feeling refreshed
This kind of EFT is what I call Talk and Tap. You tap out what you don’t want, and tap in what you do want.
Once you’ve done a few rounds, I recommend a couple more of the first EFT for better sleep rounds.

2. Hypnosis to sleep well
Hypnosis isn’t something I’m able to offer you, but I really want to include it here because I feel it’s so incredibly powerful.
Before I get into how I use hypnosis and my recommendation, I need to let you know that I am an affiliate which means if you use my link and buy anything, I’ll get a commission.
- Please note that affiliate links are used below. This means that If you purchase something using my links, I may receive a commission. You will always pay the same.
The company I’ve been using for many years is HYPNOSIS DOWNLOADS. You definitely can get hypnosis videos on YouTube but Hypnosis downloads are a company I personally trust and have been using for a long time. I also like to have all my downloads in one place.
They have over 19 special sleep hypnosis downloads including the Sleep improver pack, Insomnia beater pack, fall asleep fast…
But also what I want to tell you is that I use hypnosis downloads for all kinds of things.
I put the download on once I’m settled in bed and I’d say that 9 out of 10 times I fall asleep listening to it. I find them all really relaxing, so this is something worth thinking about.
The only kind that you don’t want to be going for are things like Instant Power Nap. You don’t want to be setting yourself up for a quick nap rather than sleeping the whole night.
3. Sleep Affirmations
It’s a really great idea to fill your mind with affirmations to help you sleep. Now, I’ve already written a really detailed post on sleep affirmations, so I’d love you to go and check it out – Affirmations for sleep but I want to give you a few of my personal favourites right here.
- I easily fall into a restful sleep and wake up feeling really refreshed
- My dreams are happy and peaceful
- I turn my worries over to the Universe and sleep soundly
Your affirmations are simply positive statements that support you. In this case, they support you in sleeping well.

4. Visualizing waking up refreshed
This tip isn’t really about sleep, however, in order to wake up feeling refreshed and ready for a wonderful day, you’d need to have slept well.
Here’s what I like to do if I’m not sleeping great. Once I’m in bed, I will close my eyes and then I will briefly visualize myself going off to sleep (sometimes, I visualize the clock going around so that I see I’m getting 7-8 hours sleep) then I move onto visualizing myself waking up refreshed.
I stretch and smile, getting out of bed and I really try to get that feeling of being refreshed and ready for a great day.
A few more tips to help you sleep better
I find that when I work late, it’s hard for my mind to settle and fall asleep. Now I love my work and often do work in the evening, but I try to make a point of switching off a good hour before bedtime and focus my attention on something else.
If you do go to bed and find your mind is whizzing, full of ideas, worries, things you need to do… Write everything down.
Don’t worry about grammar or whether it makes sense or not, just get it out of your mind and onto the paper.
Keep a notebook beside your bed, so that if you’re drifting off to sleep and suddenly remember something you need to do, you can quickly write it down for tomorrow and go to sleep.
Turn your worries over to the Universe. For you, this may be turning your worries over to God, the angels… It’s your personal choice.
I close my eyes and say, even though I have these worries, now is the time for me to sleep, so I turn my worries over to the Universe. I trust the Universe to give me guidance and support and bring positive energy to the situation. Thank you.
