I talk about affirmations a lot on this blog but I also encourage you to use afformations.
I’ve been asked more than once if I’ve said the word wrong or written it wrong when I’ve talked about afformations – Do you mean affirmations?
What’s the difference between affirmations and afformations? Affirmations are positive statements and afformations are questions.
Both are tools that create positive thought patterns to reprogram your subconscious mind and help you make positive changes in your life.
I’ll talk more about each below and give you some examples of how to use affirmations and afformations.
What are affirmations?
Affirmations are positive statements such as I am enough, I am confident, I am successful…
Affirmations are a great way to fill your mind with positive thoughts that support you in creating the life you want.
I have lots of information here on the blog to help you use affirmations effectively.
Here’s my HOW TO USE AFFIRMATIONS GUIDE – This will help you to make the most of your affirmations so that they really help you to be the person you want to be and create the life you want.
I encourage you to spend some time going over your key affirmations right at the start of the day and just before you go to sleep. Then fill your mind with positive affirmations throughout the day.
Examples of affirmations
Here are some more examples of affirmations…
- I am healthy
- I’m loving driving my brand new, red Porsche
- I happily and easily made £100,000 profit from my business this year
- I am financially secure…

What are afformations?
Afformations are questions designed to make the subconscious mind think that you already have something such as Why is it easy for me to make £100,000 profit a year?
Afformations were created by Noah St John after he found he had more success using questions rather than statements.
He has a great little book where you can learn more about using afformations – LITTLE BOOK OF AFFORMATIONS (This page goes to Noah’s full book list – scroll a little way down for the afformations book).
Muscle testing shows that many people accept the questions as being true more readily than affirmations.

Here are some more examples of afformations…
- Why is it easy for me to choose healthy options now?
- Why do I enjoy exercising now?
- Why do I easily attract great opportunities?

Which should I use?
I use both. Some people prefer one over the other and that’s fine, go with whatever you feel works best for you.
I love to combine them both. For example, I might use the affirmation… I love being slim, and healthy wearing my size 12 dresses.
Then I might use the afformation… Why is it so easy for me to be slim and healthy and look great in my size 12 dresses?
Some people say that affirmations feel like a lie and when we do muscle testing whilst saying an affirmation, it shows (for some people) that the statement is not true.
Basically, your subconscious mind hasn’t accepted it. Whereas most people when tested showed they did accept the questions (afformations).
That being said, I still encourage you to use both. In my post WHAT IF AFFIRMATIONS FEEL LIKE A LIE?
I explain that using a technique called EFT will help to remove resistance and allow your subconscious mind to accept it as true.
This will also help to raise your vibrations making you more of a match for what you want.

Combine with EFT – Emotional Freedom Techniques
I love to combine both affirmations and afformations with EFT. If you haven’t heard of EFT before, check out my EFT GUIDE.
It’s super easy and it works to improve your energy flow by tapping gently on meridian points.
Simply repeat your affirmations or afformations whilst tapping through the EFT points. This will help to release any resistance and help your subconscious mind accept the new message as being already true for you.
EFT and Affirmations Script Example
- Top of the head – I am enough
- Forehead – I can do this
- Eyebrow – I am successful
- Side of the eye – I am loved
- Under the eye – I am confident
- Under the nose – I am creating a life I love
- Under the mouth – Every day in every way my life gets better and better
- Collarbone – All is well in my world
- Under the arm – I’m always in the right place at the right time
- Side of the hand – My life is awesome
You can go on and on using any affirmations you like.
EFT and AFFORMATIONS Script Example
- Top of the head – Why am I always enough?
- Forehead – Why can I do this?
- Eyebrow – Why am I so successful?
- Side of the eye – Why am I so loved?
- Under the eye – Why am I so confident?
- Under the nose – Why is it so easy for me to create a life I love?
- Under the mouth – Why is my life getting better and better every day?
- Collarbone – Why do I always arrive at the perfect time?
- Under the arm – Why is my life so awesome?
- Side of the hand – Why does money flow so easily to me?
Again, just keep tapping in any of your afformations. Really have fun with these EFT tapping scripts.
Know that whenever you tap, you’ll be improving your energy flow and releasing blocks.
