Using affirmations for stress release can be really effective. Use positive statements to shift your focus to thoughts that release stress and support calm feelings.

Affirmations are simply positive statements and usually in the present tense. An example is… I’m calm and relaxed.

You can use affirmations to deliberately shift your thoughts so that they support you.

Below you’ll find a list of affirmations that will help to release stress and I’ve also included some special tips to make the most of these affirmations.

You can also check out my HOW TO USE AFFIRMATIONS GUIDE to really make sure you’re effectively using your affirmations.

Focus on your breathing

Slowing down your breathing is probably the best way to calm down and release stress.

Take a deep breath in through your nose, hold briefly and slowly breathe out through your mouth.

Try this breathing exercise to release stress and feel calmer.

  • As you breathe in, say to yourself – I breathe in calmness
  • As you release the breath, say – I release all stress from my body and mind
  • Repeat a few times

Break the stress thoughts cycle

When you feel stressed you get stress talk going on in your mind and oh boy, is it super quick at going into overdrive.

You need to break that cycle of stress mind talk by deliberately shifting your focus. Affirmations are a great way to do this.

I definitely think that your affirmations for stress release are powerful but you can also simply shift your focus to what you want. Here are some posts that have some great positive affirmation ideas.

  • Affirmations to change your life
  • Affirmations to attract what you want
  • Using affirmations for joy
  • Happiness affirmations – Time to get happy
  • Gratitude Affirmations
  • Clearing mental clutter with EFT tapping

If I don’t want this, what do I want?

If you don’t want to feel stressed, what do you want? Write your answer down and then turn it into an affirmation.

Here’s an example of how this may go…

  • If I don’t want to feel stressed, what do I want?
  • I want to feel calm
  • Your affirmation would be I AM CALM

Here’s another more specific scenario…

  • If I don’t want to feel stressed about this meeting at work, what do I want?
  • I want to feel calm. I want to feel confident. I want to feel organized.
  • Your affirmations would be… I am calm, I am confident, I am organized

Fill your mind with positive messages

Get into the habit of filling your mind with positive messages throughout the day, every day.

First thing in the morning and as you’re drifting off to sleep are both powerful times to repeat your key affirmations, but also have these positive messages running through your mind as you go about your normal life.

Don’t wait until you feel stressed. Fill your mind with positive messages that help you feel great every day.

Combine your affirmations with EFT

All affirmations can be combined with EFT – Emotional Freedom Techniques. I have a couple of guides here on the blog to help if you’re new to EFT.

  • Emotional Freedom Techniques – EFT – How to Tap GUIDE
  • EFT and AFFIRMATIONS – Why they’re a powerful combination

What this will do is improve your energy flow which will release those stress feelings. I recommend that you also have a read of these EFT Posts which include tapping scripts.

  • Reduce Stress with EFT – Emotional Freedom Techniques
  • EFT for Stress Relief – Tapping Script and Tips
  • EFT tapping to relax
  • Affirmations to calm the mind

One of my favourite EFT and Affirmation sessions to calm myself down and release stress is to simply repeat I’m calm and relaxed at each tapping point.

In the EFT script below, I’ve used I’m calm and relaxed at alternative points and then I release stress as the second affirmation.

EFT TAPPING SCRIPT TO RELEASE STRESS

  • Set up tapping the side of the hand – I’m tapping today to release stress. And I’m tapping in feelings of calm and relaxation.
  • Top of the head – I release stress
  • Forehead – I’m calm and relaxed
  • Eyebrow – I release stress
  • Side of the eye – I’m calm and relaxed
  • Under the eye – I release stress
  • Under the nose – I’m calm and relaxed
  • Under the mouth – I release stress
  • Collarbone – I’m calm and relaxed
  • Under the arm – I release stress
  • Side of the hand – I’m calm and relaxed

You can also use the affirmations list from above and say a different affirmation at each of the EFT tapping points.

As an EFT Master Practitioner, I recommend daily EFT. Most people only pay attention to stress when the levels are really high.

If you get into the habit of daily tapping and use EFT as soon as you feel stressed, you’ll release so much stress from your day to day life.
