Get yourself settled, this is a long but super-useful post. I’m going to share my top goal-setting tips with you.
In this goal-setting guide, I’ll share effective tips that really help you to make sure that you actually achieve your goals consistently.
Let’s get on with these goal-setting tips. Enjoy. I hope you find them really helpful. Some you may well have heard of before, still read beyond the sub-heading though as I may well have a different twist to something you’ve previously read.
Some of these tips will be different from the normal run-of-the-mill goal-setting tips.
I draw from my own experience, my life coach skills, law of attraction knowledge and I’ve shared an EFT script to help you release any blocks to achieving your goals.
What is the big picture?
Think ‘ideal life’. I see many people working really hard to achieve certain goals but when I ask them about their ideal life the goal they are working on does not in any way help them to achieve that life they want.
I encourage you to get really clear about what success means to you. What do you really want to achieve in your life? Think more long-term than just the here and now.
Of course, as we go through life the things we want can change drastically. The life I thought I wanted when I was 18 is definitely not the life I want for myself now in my 50’s but having a vision for your future will mean that you can focus on what really matters to you.
Why is it important to you?
Random goals with no reason behind them are rarely effective long term. RANDOM GOALS = RANDOM RESULTS.
I encourage you to know why you really want to achieve your specific goals. If you have a strong reason why you will be more likely to make this a priority in your life.
Yearly Goal-Setting Strategy
I truly believe the best goal-setting strategy is the simplest. I find that people who overcomplicate goal setting are more likely to struggle to achieve goals.
- Start with your big goals – These would be your ultimate goals
- Using your ultimate goals, ask yourself “What do I need to achieve this year to move me closer to achieving this bigger goal?” Write down your yearly goals.
- Look at your yearly goals and break those goals down to create monthly goals.
- From your monthly goals, create your weekly and daily goals.
By using this very simple system you are always doing something to move you closer to your bigger goals and they all tie in to help you achieve your ultimate goals rather than having random weekly, monthly goals that don’t serve you long-term.
Write your goals down at every stage and keep them where you will see them daily. I also encourage you to read Yearly Goal Setting For All Areas Of Life.
I’ve also created a special printable monthly goal-setting guide and planner which you can find over on my ETSY SHOP.
SMART Goals
S – Specific – A vague goal will achieve vague results. Make your goal super specific.
M– Measurable – How will you know when you’ve achieved the goal? Make sure that you have an exact point when you know you’ve achieved this goal.
A– Achievable – Is your goal actually achievable? If right now you have a small online business with a fairly low income and you set a goal to own 50 high street stores by the end of the year, I’d say that’s not achievable.
R– Realistic – Again, like the last point, is your goal realistic for you? I am a huge fan of big dreams and as much as I’d love to say that anything is possible, I do feel that we need to be realistic.
I like to think that I have my head in the clouds, dreaming big but get there by keeping my feet on the floor, taking one action step at a time.
T– Time-based – Now, I’m not 100% sure on this one. I definitely think it’s a good idea to give your goals a time frame to keep you super focused.
But, one thing that I do see is that people set goals and don’t achieve them, then they lose motivation for this goal and feel like they’ve failed.
I encourage you to set ACTIONABLE GOALS with time frames and Intentions where you trust in divine timing. I’ll talk more about this next.

Actionable Goals and Intention Goals
Your Actionable Goals are goals that you take action on. These are things that you have full control over.
For me, as a full-time blogger, some actionable goals would be…
- Write and schedule 5 blog posts by (add date)
- Schedule social media posts to the end of (add date)
- Create 10 new images for old posts and share on Pinterest and tailwind by (add date)
Intention goals – For those of you reading this who don’t know me, I’m a qualified Law of attraction practitioner – I definitely encourage what I call Intention goals.
These are the kinds of goals that I see as being out of our control. We need the Universe to help us out. I teach people to think about the law of attraction as being a really powerful helping hand.
We clearly let the Universe know what it is that we want to attract and we work on being a positive match to attract this to your reality.
Some examples for me would be…
- I intend to achieve my financial goal of…
- I intend to push my 30-day blog sessions up to over 50,000
There are definitely action steps that I can take to help achieve these goals but ultimately I can’t make people visit my blog, but I can draw on the law of attraction to help attract this.
Time frames
I definitely support setting a time frame for your actionable goals but when it comes to intention goals I have mixed feelings.
If setting a time frame for your intention gives you a positive feeling – positive expectation, then go for it.
But if the time frame causes stress and anxiety, and feelings of failure… then this will not make you a match for what you want and I would advise you to avoid them and trust in divine timing.
The biggest thing that the law of attraction responds to is your feelings. Positive feelings help to make you a match for what you want. Negative feelings will serve to block the things you want.
Goal setting questions
- Why do I want this?
- Do I need extra help?
- Do I need to learn something new?
- What can I do today to achieve this goal?
EFT to release any blocks you have to achieve your goals
If you’re new to EFT check out this post EFT – How to tap. EFT is a super simple technique that you can quickly learn and use yourself.
This is a two-part script. Read through your goals before doing these scripts.
Use these tapping points – Top of the head, forehead, start of the eyebrow, side of the eye, under the eye, under the nose, under the mouth, collarbone, tap the side of your hands together (little finger side).
I recommend that you do two full rounds for each script.
Script one – At each tapping point say “I release any blocks to achieving these goals.
Script two – At each tapping point say “I easily achieve all of my goals”
The first script will help to clear any blocks you have and the second will help you to raise your vibrations and be more and more of a match to be able to achieve your goals with ease.
I’ve created a special EFT Tapping Guide and Workbook To Help Achieve Your Goals which is available to buy from my ETSY SHOP.
