This easy guide is to help you understand how to use Emotional Freedom Techniques – EFT tapping for weight loss and healthy living.
EFT is a very simple tapping technique to improve your energy flow, release blocks, and help you feel great.

How does EFT tapping work for weight loss?
You can use EFT to help you release low emotions that are connected to your weight – For example, if you feel unhappy or if you lack confidence because you are overweight.
It can help with comfort eating to block out emotions – Here’s a full post about this EFT to help stop comfort eating.
EFT helps to release unhelpful beliefs about yourself, about your body, and your ability to lose weight.
A really common belief that people who are overweight have is that it’s hard to lose weight. Using EFT, you can release that belief and tap in a new belief that supports you. Check out EFT TAPPING – It’s hard to lose weight (clearing limiting beliefs).
You can also use positive EFT to ‘TAP IN’ the things you want, such as the way you want to feel. EFT also helps you to release old, limiting beliefs that can keep you stuck and overweight and to help build new positive beliefs that support you.
A great way to use EFT to feel great and feel motivated is to combine affirmations with EFT – Here’s an example of what I mean – EFT and Affirmations For Weight Loss.
My golden tip with any EFT tapping is to Tap Out the things you don’t want (low emotions, limiting beliefs) and Tap In the things you do want (to be slim, healthy, to feel great…)
How often do I need to use EFT for weight loss?
I recommend daily EFT tapping for weight loss. Ideally, try to make EFT a part of your morning routine but you can also use it throughout the day to give you a boost and keep you feeling great.
Okay, so let’s break this down a bit more. When you first start using EFT tapping for weight loss, you really want to spend time working on your limiting beliefs. For example, looking at when you first started to be conscious of your weight…
I was about 8 stone when this first happened to me. Which is absolutely crazy. I was fit and slim but I overheard a conversation that made me feel conscious of my body. This is where my problems started.
It’s important to work on memories like this as the beliefs they create are often very deep-rooted. I have a pdf download available on my Etsy shop that will really help with this stage. It’s my EFT for WEIGHT LOSS SCRIPTS download which includes 10 special scripts, some of which you can personalize to be specific to you.
Take your time with these releasing scripts. Tap on any belief that doesn’t help you to achieve your weight loss goals. For example, if you tell yourself “I hate exercising” that’s a limiting belief.
Sure there may have been times in your life when you’ve exercised and hated it but that does not need to be true for every form of exercise. Check out this post EFT for exercise motivation.
Your daily tapping can be positive EFT where you tap in positive statements such as Weight loss affirmations. – My favourites are… I’m slim, healthy and strong, I love my healthy body, every day my health improves…
There are no fixed rules for how often you need to tap for weight loss but I recommend some daily tapping even several times a day. For example, you can do this FOOD IS ENERGY EFT SCRIPT before each meal.
EFT tapping scripts for weight loss
Okay, here are some examples of how you can use EFT tapping for weight loss, to build healthy habits that support you and help you feel great.
1. EFT to clear negative beliefs that stop you from losing weight
Set up: Tapping the side of your hand say… I’m tapping today to release any blocks that stop me from being healthy and slim. (repeat 3 times)
- Top of the head: Blocks to weight loss
- Forehead: Release
- Eyebrow: Blocks to weight loss
- Side of the eye: Release
- Under the eye: Blocks that stop me from being healthy and slim
- Under the nose: Release
- Under the mouth: Blocks that stop me from being healthy and slim
- Collarbone: Release
- Under the arm: Blocks to Weight Loss Success
- Side of the hand: Blocks to being healthy and slim
Repeat at least 5 times. Feel free to add in your own words such as… This belief that I can’t lose weight, I never stick to things, this belief that I won’t maintain my weight long-term…
2. EFT to release low emotions connected to your weight
Use EFT script anytime you feel low, such as when you feel fed up with your weight or when you’re feeling sad, lonely, frustrated…
We often turn to food when we experience low emotions. Instead, try this tapping script.
Start by tapping the side of your hand and say… I’m tapping to release this emotion (or you can say feeling or the specific feeling you’re experiencing such as sadness) – Repeat 3 times.
As you tap, focus on the low emotion you are experiencing.
- Top of the head: This feeling
- Forehead: Releasing
- Eyebrow: This feeling
- Side of the eye: Releasing
- Under the eye: This feeling
- Under the nose: Releasing
- Under the mouth: This feeling
- Collarbone: Releasing
- Under the arm: This feeling
- Side of the hand: Releasing
Use this script anytime you experience a low emotion and not just in relation to your weight. I recommend that you do several rounds. Ideally, keep tapping until you feel the low emotion lifting and then move on to positive tapping (below).
3. EFT to help you feel really positive about weight loss
This is a fantastic positive EFT script to do every day or even several times during the day to keep you feeling focused, positive and feeling great.
- Top of the head: I totally love and respect my body
- Forehead: I choose to eat in a positive way that nourishes and satisfies my body
- Eyebrow: Being my ideal weight is natural for me
- Side of the eye: Being healthy is natural for me
- Under the eye: It’s easy for me now to maintain my ideal weight
- Under the nose: I love and cherish my body
- Under the mouth: I feel great
- Collarbone: I am naturally healthy and slim
- Under the arm: I love my body
- Side of the hand: I feel amazing
EFT and Affirmations
A great tip for positive EFT is to tap in affirmations. Check out my affirmations for weight loss, healthy living, and well-being – Check out my AFFIRMATIONS FOR WEIGHT LOSS examples blog post. Say any affirmation at each tapping point.
You can use many different affirmations, just one or two, or stick with just one. It’s entirely up to you.
Here’s a great guide to help you understand how EFT and AFFIRMATIONS work so well together. And here’s an example using some of my favourite healthy living and weight loss affirmations.
- Top of the head: I’m slim, healthy, and strong
- Forehead: I pay close attention to my body
- Eyebrow: I love my body
- Side of the hand: Healthy weight loss is so easy for me now
- Under the eye: I am now naturally returning to my ideal weight
- Under the nose: I am nourished
- Under the mouth: I eat mindfully
- Collarbone: I love moving my body
- Under the arm: I feel great
- Side of the hand: Every day I move closer to my ideal weight
Keep tapping and add in any affirmation you want. Ideally, do this kind of tapping daily and any time you need a positivity boost.

I m trying swear on god. When I m taping I am saying that, My Lord I am swear on you: “If I am eating sugary things and junk foods, give me an accident that I will lose my legs and arms or getting cancer” 🙂 I didn’t find another mindset to stop my bad eating habits. And I m not sure that will work but I m trying it last few days and I m afraid of eating those bad foods… :)) And I visualise this situation of swear (in very feary emotions) by taping. I could not another method to stop my appetite

I’m not sure I am understanding your comment right but try to Tap out unwanted emotions and beliefs about weight loss and unhealthy eating habits and then tap in positive statements that support you. Please don’t be so hard on yourself if you do eat sugary foods and junk food. This won’t help you. Instead, focus on building healthy eating habits. The better you are able to feel about yourself the easier new habits will be. Please do not focus on punishing yourself.
